Why Do We Celebrate the Night of the Phantoms?

Hi Jammers! Naffy here.

The Night of the Phantoms (Halloween) is just around the corner. Literally. It's tomorrow, people.

Which means the day after that is the first day of November, which means it's almost Thanksgiving, which means we're one step closer to Christmas.

My, this year has gone by so fast!

But that's not the point. Today, we're going to be discussing the holiday that is upon us at the moment, by answering a question that was recently brought up by another fellow AJ blogger named sarahkey8.

So... why exactly DO we celebrate the Night of the Phantoms?

Well, I believe this can be better explained by first asking, why do we celebrate Halloween?

Halloween is a combination of pagan and Christian traditions. Historically, it originated from the festival of Samhain, which celebrates the end of the harvest season. The official day for this festival was November 1st, but the pagans believed that on the night before Samhain (October 31st), spirits of the dead would return to purposefully destroy their crops and wreak havoc.

Then, in the 8th century, Christians turned the festival into All Saints Day, and named October 31st All Hallows Eve, which was later shortened to Halloween.

The pagans would dress up and wear costumes to prevent the spirits from detecting them. People would also place Jack-O-Lanterns, carved out of turnips, potatoes, or even beets, on their doorsteps to ward off the evil spirits.

Clearly, Halloween has a very religious, interesting background, and traditions have been going strong ever since it was born. However, this does not give us an exact answer as to why we celebrate the Night of the Phantoms in Animal Jam.

The Night of the Phantoms has been described as ''a night where the phantoms come out to play''. Do the phantoms actually PLAY like good little children do, or do they cause chaos throughout the land like the evil spirits?

Aren't phantoms supposed to be... y'know... our ENEMIES? Infamous for their mischievous acts that bring destruction and grief to Jamaa?

WHY ARE WE CELEBRATING THEM!?!? THEY'RE EVIL!!!

At least the reasoning behind all of the Halloween traditions make SENSE! People in ancient times weren't celebrating the evil spirits. They were only trying to send them away!

AND WHY THE HECK DO WE KEEP PHANTOMS AS PETS!!!???!!?!?!

*sighs*

Okay. That got a little out of hand there, but do you get what I'm trying to say?

I understand that not everyone celebrates Halloween, so AJHQ did what they had to do in attempt to keep the peace between all of their players. Same goes for the Jamaalidays and Freedom Day.

There are just a few... mmm... plot holes, I suppose.

That's all for today. I hope you enjoyed this post. Let me know what you guys think in the comments about the Night of the Phantoms.

Adios!

My Favorite Den Betas

Hey Jammers! Today I thought it would be fun to show you guys what my favorite den betas are. In case you are unfamiliar with the term, ''den betas'' are what I define as den items that were sold either during or shortly after the beta testing period. When people are describing what a ''beta item'' truly is, everyone has their own opinion, so if you don't agree with mine, then that's okay.

With that being said, let's begin!

Yellow Sweets

Why I Like It: HELLO!!! IT'S ICE CREAM AND CUPCAKES FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!

Wood Floor

Why I Like It: It gives a nice home-y feel to every den.

Blue Shag Carpet

Why I Like It: It goes well with the Yellow Sweets wallpaper, and it looks pretty soft and comfy.

Rare Claw

Why I Like It: Who doesn't enjoy playing The Claw!?

Cami's Frog

Why I Like It: Its backstory, of course.

Pot O' Gems

Why I Like It: I like how colorful it is.

Porch Swing

Why I Like It: It's aesthetically pleasing and is a nice touch for any outdoor area.

There you guys go! I hope you enjoyed this little post. Comment down below what your favorite den betas are!

Bye everyone! See ya next time!

Animal Jam Box Fall 2017 Unboxing/Review

Hey Jammers! At last, the AJ box for fall has finally arrived at my doorstep, and I hope you're just as excited for this post as I am!

Without any further delay, let's get right into opening this box!

As you may already know, the box's theme is ''phantom'', so I can guarantee there are going to be phantom-themed prizes inside.

Voila! Here is what the box looks like when you open it for the first time.

Sure enough, there are seven epic prizes inside, each having to do with phantoms.

The first item is this awesome, purple phantom graphic tee.

Next we have this adorable, soft phantom plushie! This is probably one of my favorite items to ever receive from an AJ box. Also, some of its arms/legs are bendable, which makes it even more amazing!

I apologize for these two pictures facing the wrong direction. Anyway, this is a phantom notebook. The black leather case has wallet-like pockets inside, perfect for storing all sorts of secret information. It also comes with a phantom notebook and pen. Nice!

This here is an LED phantom eye watch. Simply press the phantom's eye to turn it on. I think it's really cool, but for some reason I can't figure out how to change the time on the watch to match up with whatever time it is where I live. If any of you have ideas on how to fix this, please let me know!

Next up is another charm. This phantom charm makes a total of four charms, one in each previous AJ box.

Lastly, we have a phantom beanie! This is my other favorite item. It's very soft and comfortable.

And we can't forget the promo code, which gives you a wonderful virtual phantom beanie for your animal to wear!

So there you have it! Honestly, every AJ box keeps getting better and better as the companies progress and experiment with putting different toys and accessories in each one. Keep up the good work, AJHQ!

Thanks for reading. That's the whip!

Secret Item: Archaeological Dig Site

Hey Jammers! Naffy here for an extremely short post. I just wanted to let y'all know that the secret item in the Epic Haunted Manor den is an archaeological dig site. It costs 750 gems, and it's for members only.

Is it just me, or do most of these secret items seem kind of bland and useless? I would much rather see some of the unreleased items that are scattered throughout each of AJHQ's custom Epic Dens as secret items than what we're getting, that's for sure.

Anyways, I hope you guys have a great rest of your day. Don't forget to check out the new update. I'll be making a post on the new *spoiler alert* Adventure later on. ^.^ Bye!

My Favorite AJ Den Designer

Hi Jammers! Today's post isn't going to be news-related or anything; instead, I will be talking about my all-time FAVORITE Animal Jam den designer: Pugfluff!

Pugfluff has various social media accounts in which she uses to share her talent with the Internet. She posts all kinds of den designs, decorating tips, tricks, ideas, and so much more. Here are a few of examples of her work that I particularly like:

The last one is called the Phantom Express, and she used items from various Adventures to construct it. Neat, right?

I enjoy designing dens, but I'm far too lazy to spend hours upon hours trying to decorate a den in a creative, unique, and pleasing manner. Oh well.

Who is your favorite den designer? Also, what den designs have you made that you are proud of?

Thanks for reading, bye Jammers!

World of Jamaa Tag by Ja983

Hi Jammers! The other day my friend Ja made another original and awesome Animal Jam tag. Although I wasn't tagged, I still thought it would be fun to answer the questions. So, without further ado, let's begin! :)

1. Do you like the new or older version of the Zios mask?

I assume you are asking me whether or not I prefer the version of Zios with green eyes like this...

Image result for animal jam zios

...or like this...

Image result for animal jam zios

Honestly, I have to say I like both. I don't really have an opinion on this topic.

2. What is your favorite seasonal Adventure?

Probably Bitter Sweets. I like how there are different soundtracks playing in the background for each area there is, and the prizes are great, too.

3. Which do you like better, Gabby's Hospital or the old Medical Center?

I'm not sure if this question is talking about the old, OLD Medical Center, or the Kimbara Outback Medical Center, but I assume it's the Kimbara Outback one. Honestly, I preferred the old Medical Center, but I do find it nice how they incorporated veterinary subjects into Animal Jam by turning into an animal hospital.

4. Of all the lands and oceans in Jamaa, which one has the best music?

Agh, that's a tough one. The Jamaaliday Jingle is very nice and festive; it's the song that plays in Jamaa Township during the Jamaalidays. I also like the Mt. Shiveer and Sarepia Forest tracks.

5. On a scale from 1-10, how creepy do you rate the Deep Blue music?

Definitely a 10. I remember one of my friends saying that you can hear some faint noises of trains halting and people screaming. A bit dark and creepy for a game like Animal Jam, wouldn't you think?

6. What's something weird you find on the Animal Jam World Map?

Hmm... the fact that the slide and the ladder in Sarepia Forest are nowhere to be seen.

7. What's something in Jamaa's lands you never really notice?

Well, as sad as it is, I somehow always manage to forget that the Canyons Pathway exists.

8. What's one of the prettiest things in Jamaa?

The Mira statue. :)

Thanks for reading, everybody! Feel free to do this tag in the comments or even on your own blog. Share it with your friends, too! Bye Jammers!

5 Weird Things I Did as a Child

Hi Jammers! Today isn't going to be anything Animal Jam related at all, so if you're here for some AJ news, tips, tricks, or ideas, then this post might not be for you. But don't leave, because you may end up finding today's post interesting.

As you can see from the title, I'm going to be talking about some strange things I did when I was a little kid. Let's begin!

1. I thought that if I ever got hit by a car, I would turn into a Krusteaz mini pancake.

To keep us children safe from the road, my mom would tell us that if we didn't look both ways when crossing the street, we would get squished as flat as a pancake by an oncoming vehicle. Well, I didn't exactly know what similes and metaphors were back then, so I legitimately thought I would turn into one of those mini pancakes you find in the frozen meal aisle.

Image result for krusteaz mini pancakes

Ahh... those were the best.

2. I thought that if I stayed in the bathtub for too long, I would turn into an actual raisin.

My mom also said that if we sat in the bathtub for too long, we would eventually turn into a giant, purple, dried grape. And yes, I believed it. When I was younger, I loved taking super long baths and showers, but ever since I heard my mom say that, I tried my best to get in and out of the tub as quickly as possible.

3. I named our red wagon Benny, and sometimes I would have conversations with it.

When I was little, we had one of those Radio Flyer red wagons that we would drag up the sidewalk, sit in it, and ride it back down to our driveway. For some reason, I decided to give it the name ''Benny''... and it was a girl. Yes, I gave a wagon a gender. The weirdest part is that as I would pull it up the sidewalk, I would occasionally TALK to it.

''Hi Benny, how are you? Today I ate a nice bowl of Spaghetti-O's. I love Spaghetti-O's. I also played Hot Wheels with my baby brother. My trick-track was totally better than his trick-track. Oh, and my baby sister had some green poop. Her poop is like a rainbow. It changes colors a lot.''

4. I was so obsessed with the Junie B. Jones books that I started acting like Junie.

Please tell me I wasn't the only one who read these books. The Junie B. Jones series was basically all I read in first and second grade. Somehow I became so obsessed with the books that I started to act like Junie, and that did not go down well. No wonder I was in time-out so often. Looking back, I now realize how much of a sassy jerk I was. I blame Junie. *cringes*

5. I made up a song where the lyrics were made up of three different sounds: ''Aaaahhhh, oooohhhh, and wahhhh.''

Ugh... I really don't want to talk about this, but I can't think of anything else I did that was weird as a child right now, even though there's TONS of examples. Basically, I made up a song that goes like this.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
OOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHH

WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
WAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH
WAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH

Honestly, I feel bad for my parents.

That's all of the strange things I can remember, so um... let me know what kinds of things you did as a kid that were remotely odd or weird in the comments. :P

Bye Jammers!

The REAL Name of the Animal Jam Merchandise Fox

Hey Jammers! I'm sure you all know who the Animal Jam merchandise fox is, right? (That's not her official nickname or anything, but that's what I like to call her.)

Even if you don't know who she is, I'm certain you've seen her in many different places before.

Image result for animal jam purple fox

She looks like this, and she can be found on the packaging of just about every AJ product out there.

Several months ago, we learned that her name was ''Kit'', thanks to an AJ-themed card game called ''Top Trumps''.

However, A little more recently, three Animal Jam Pillow Pets were released, one of which is a replica of Kit.

On the Pillow Pets website, they seem to have given Kit a much different name...

Umm... what thee heck!?

Frankie!?

I don't know about you guys, but I think Kit is definitely a more fitting name than... *shudders*... Frankie.

No harsh feelings to anyone out there who is named Frankie, though. Frankie's an awesome name and all, but... you get what I'm trying to say, right?

Anyways, which name do you like better for this purple fuzzy fox? Kit or Frankie? Leave your opinions in the comments.

Thanks for reading. That's the whip!

Animal Jam Safari Pets

Hi there! Welcome to the Animal Jam Whip blog. :)

A new Animal Jam product debuted recently, and it's called the Safari Pets multi pack.

Image 2

Similar to the Pet Stop Pals multi pack that was released earlier this year (or was it last year? I can't remember), this set includes 12 pet figurines, as well as 12 interchangeable accessories and a feature code. Unlike the previous set, half of the pets in the Safari pack are from Series 1, and the other half are from Series 2. This means two different collector's guides can also be found in this set. Cool, huh?

File:Safari Pets (Jazwares).png

I'm quite surprised there isn't a unique, metallic gold pet like there was last time. Nevertheless, the feature code stills rewards anyone who redeems it with a virtual golden pony pet.

Thanks for reading, everybody! Have a nice day!
