Hey Jammers! Nafaria here! Today, I am going to be teaching you guys how to make your very own Animal Jam plastic miniature charms.
What You Need:
- Clean #6 Plastic or Shrinky Dink Material
- Scissors
- Colored Pencil or Permanent Markers
- Aluminum Foil
Step 1: Preheat your oven to either 325 degrees Fahrenheit (if you're using Shrinky Dinks) or 350 degrees Fahrenheit (if you're using #6 plastic).
Step 2: Cut out a sheet of plastic, or take a piece of Shrinky Dink material.
Step 3: Draw your desired image onto the plastic material. If you're using Shrinky Dinks, make sure to draw it on the sanded side. In this case, I drew a phantom. :P Remember, when the image is put into the oven, they will shrink, so make sure to draw them big (usually about three times larger than the desired resulting size).
Step 4: Use your scissors to cut out your images.
Step 5: Cover a baking sheet with tin foil or some other kind of protective liner and place the image onto it with the color side facing up.
Step 6: Bake it for about 1-3 minutes long. It's okay if they start to curl up into a little ball; that's normal.
Step 7: Take them out of the oven and gently flatten them with a cold cup of ice water, then put them back in the oven for about 30 seconds.
And voila! You're done! If you'd like to touch up your charm, you can maybe try glazing it with some mod podge or whatever, but I personally think they're great just the way they turn out.
If you want to turn them into key chains, I bet you could use a hole punch before you bake them so that you can loop the chain through. I've also seen some people place pin backs on the back of them to turn them into pins, so that's another option.
I hope you guys enjoyed this DIY! That's all for now. Happy jamming!
These are really cool, I've been looking for some cool crafts to soothe my summer boredom. I'll definitely try this :P -akmlynx
