DIY Clay Phantom Figurine

Hey hey hey! ^.^ Today I'm going to show you how to make your very own DIY clay phantom figurine! This was super fun and easy to make (although I nearly burned the house down), and I hope it's the same way for you. Let's get cookin'!

What You'll Need:
- Black polymer clay
- White polymer clay
- A place mat
- Hot glue (optional)
- Mod Podge (optional)

Preheat your oven based on what kind of polymer clay you are using. I used Sculpey polymer clay and preheated my oven to 275 degrees and baked it for 15 minutes.

Step 1: Take a medium-sized chunk of black polymer clay and mold it into a relatively thick pancake-ish shape.

Step 2: Take another chunk of black polymer clay and split it in half. Mold each half into little phantom legs.

 Step 3: Repeat step 2.

Step 4: Take a small chunk of white polymer clay and mold it into a thin pancake shape (tinier than the black pancake shape) and stick it right on top of the black pancake shape.

Step 5: Take a super tiny chunk of black polymer clay and roll it into a tiny ball. Place it on top of the white clay.

Step 6: Assemble your phantom and gently place it on a cookie sheet. Stick it in the oven based on the instructions included with your clay.

*If some of the parts to your phantom break off, fix it up with some hot glue.*
*If your polymer clay is not colored/lost some of its color during the baking process, paint it.*
*If you want to add some shine to your figurine, paint it with some mod podge.*

Ta-da! Now you have a cute lil' phantom charm! :D It might have been more fitting to save this DIY for October (Night of the Phantoms month!), but why not post it now? :p

G'bye!

  1. A couple of years ago, I made some clay animals and phantoms and made some stop motion animations. I have tons of the plastacine left, maybe I'll 'kraft'(hah hah) some of these phantoms and return to the stop motion studio XD

That also reminds me I need to get to work on my special animation project.
May or may not be taking a giant leap and trying to animate jamaasian high...
What have I gotton myself into?

  2. It's very cute :)

What did you do that made you nearly burn the house down (not meaning to sound like a parent)?

    How's your school?

    1. I kinda let the polymer clay cook for too long even though I'm almost 100% sure I followed the directions, but I guess not. Smoke started coming out of the oven when I opened it and the whole house smelled like a fire. XD

    2. Ugh. I know the feeling. I have literally set off the smoke alarm by boiling water. :P I'm totally serious, there wasn't even anything caught inside the stove eye burning! It was just boiling water, nothing to see here, then BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP "What are you doing in there? Open a window!" BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP... XD
