What Kind of Animal is Zios?

Hi Jammers! ^.^ Welcome back to the AJW for another post! I hope you've all had a great weekend.

Today we're going to be talking about the creators of Jamaa: Mira and Zios.

A description of Mira and Zios (according to ancient lore) reads:

"And so it was that the Sky Father was named Zios.
He created many stars and planets, and set them in motion.
But after eons of creation, he became lonely. So he created the
Sky Mother, a grey heron, and named her Mira.
Mira was beautiful and kind and they were very happy together.
She loved Zios deeply and often told him how talented he was,
encouraging him to create. Together, Zios and Mira created their masterpiece: a lush land filled with oceans, mountains, meadows, and all kinds of plants and animals."

As you can see, the passage says that Mira is a grey heron. Here's a comparison of her character to the animal she's based off of:

You can see the similarities fairly easily, right?

But what the passage DOESN'T say is what animal Zios is.

Let's do a little research now, shall we?

We're going to be time traveling back into the beta days.

When Animal Jam was released to the public, in the heart of the Lost Temple of Zios sat a fallen Zios sculpture that seemingly crashed into a pit. This landmark is known as the Zios pit.

But during the beta days, in the pit's spot was a statue of a monkey. With a weird-looking crown on. Sittin' on a throne.

This brought me to the conclusion that Zios is most likely a monkey!

What do you think of my theory? Any other thoughts you might have? Be sure to leave them in the comment section. :)

Thanks for reading - see you next time!

  1. I think that Zios is a heron like Mira because originally they were in loaf... Yeah that's all the proof I have.

Technically, the monkey was probably Graham because the temple of zios was his 'land', similar to the tiger statue in the old crystal sands which was Sir Gilbert's 'land'

Maybe I'm just way too loyal to my fan fiction and refuse to believe Zios is anything other then a heron...

    1. I thought he was a heron too, but it just seemed sort of odd to me. So to me, he's an unknown animal-spirit .

    2. Very true. The one thing that makes me doubt he is a heron is the mask. How does a heron wear a giant waffle XD

Which is why I have a weird theory on what the mask actually is... All will be revealed in AJ Adventures (shameless self advertisement XD)

  2. Hi naffy, love your blog. I know I'm not the first to point this out but I think the crashed sculpture of zios, is zios. He disapeared, but I think he fell into a place they were making.

    1. Yeah, another one of my theories is that some of the phantoms were kept inside a little underground chamber, and when Zios fell, he crashed into it causing it to break and the phantoms to roam free.

  4. I've always felt that he is some sort of shapeshifter. I feel like he is made of stone, like his mask, and the mask is a part of him.

    1. I imagine him as some kind of spirit who is all the animals, but at the same time, none of them. I dunno, it's confusing, even to me. Maybe he IS all of the animals! Like, maybe he has a tiger's tail, a monkey's head, etc...

That sounds super weird though, so I'm not sure.
