Annual Q&A 2017

Image result for animal jam jamaalidays graphicHey Jammers! Welcome to the Animal Jam Whip. If you've been a reader of this blog for the past couple of years, you might remember that I do a special Q&A around the end of the year as a way to cap things off, and this year will be no different.

Your questions don't have to be specifically directed towards me or the Whip. You can ask me anything you want, as long as it's not inappropriate. I want to keep this post rated G/PG out of respect for the younger viewers.

You can leave your questions down in the comment section down below, e-mail them to me (nafariaaj@gmail.com), or ask me on Animal Jam.

Thanks for another wonderful year on AJ, everybody! The Q&A post will be up on New Year's Day. :)

Important News

Hey Jammers! I have a quick announcement to make. If you were planning on coming to the Jamaaliday party, this might be a little sad for you. Unfortunately, I am going to have to cancel the party because I'm visiting my cousin in college for the day. I will still try and find another time to reschedule it, but for now, the party is on hold. Sorry about that! :(

However, I will be getting up the den design contest in the next little bit, so stay tuned for that. Thanks guys!

The Phantoms' Next Attack CONSPIRACY THEORY

Hi Jammers! Welcome to the Animal Jam Whip!

My friend Loveminecraft and I were doing an adventure (Storming the Fortress) together the other day when we noticed something very shocking and compelling.

As you all know, Club Geoz was invaded and destroyed by the phantoms a couple of months ago in October, with some help from the mysterious Lines of Power.

Well, in Storming the Fortress, there is an area where the phantoms are being divided into groups and sent off into one of three different portals to Jamaa. One of these portals leads to Club Geoz.

Keep in mind that this adventure was released in the springtime earlier this year, and Club Geoz didn't fall until the fall (heh, see what I did there?).

BUT THAT'S NOT ALL!

Where do the other two portals lead to, you might ask?

None other than the Basement of Secrets and Captain Melville's Juice Hut.

Does this mean the phantoms are going to attack these two precious locations as well!? I sincerely hope not, but we can't be sure.

Thanks for reading. Happy jamming!

Yes, It IS Possible to Get Black Jamaaliday Socks

You heard it loud and clear, Jammers. Yes, it is indeed possible to receive black Jamaaliday socks by logging into Animal Jam today, 12/10/17, ONLY.

Today's daily gift is a pair of Jamaaliday socks, but there's something unusual about it - you can receive black Jamaaliday socks.

Prior to this event, black versions of this popular item were a result of a glitch that occurred when AJHQ was returning lost items to Jammers, making them extremely rare and sought after.

Then THIS happened, and boy, did it spark a lot of controversy!

As you can see, this image (taken from the Daily Explorer's latest post) has a pair of black socks on it. This caused a lot of Jammers to wonder whether or not receiving black socks from the daily gift was possible. And it is! Check this out:

See? The developers themselves have confirmed the statement that black socks can be acquired through today's daily Jamaaliday gift to be true.

I have yet to hear of someone actually receiving a pair of black socks though, so if you or someone you know gets one, be sure to leave a comment!

If you want to try and get some black socks for your own, simply log into an account that hasn't accepted today's gift yet, and keep refreshing until you get the right color of sock. This trick works for any gift that has multiple color variants, too - not just the socks.

Thanks for reading. Good luck everyone!

Announcement

The Jamaaliday giveaway is now open for entries! The separate contest will be up sometime later this week, as well as the invitation for the Jamaaliday party. :) Click here to enter the giveaway!

Masterpiece Token Jamaaliday Gift: Good or Bad?

Hi Jammers! Naffy here.

Something very interested happened recently. Something that hasn't occurred before in Animal Jam. And I am sure if you logged on yesterday, you would know.

For a few years now, occasionally there will be a couple of days during the Jamaaliday Advent Calendar event where, along with a gift, you receive one free diamond.

Well, yesterday, instead of a gift and a free diamond, you had the opportunity to get one free masterpiece token. A masterpiece token basically allows you to create a masterpiece, free of charge, for members AND non-members. It can also be put in your den, but it doesn't do much. It just hovers above the ground and spins around in the air.

Originally, I thought this was a great thing, because non-members finally have a chance to make a masterpiece, but then one of my friends sent me a JAG saying they were rather upset because they had paid for the Animal Jam Sketchbook that includes a promo code which gives you a masterpiece token. These tokens were first released through this product, anyway.

Personally, I think it's fine that AJHQ decided to give us a free masterpiece token. It's not like it's going to degrade the value of the item completely. Besides, not everyone might log in on the days they're handing them out. (Pssst... if you missed yesterday's token, log in next week to get one!)

The only thing I sort of dislike about the masterpiece token is that if your masterpiece doesn't get approved, you don't get your token refunded. Instead, AJHQ sends two diamonds to your account.

That's all for today. Let me know what your opinions are.

Thanks for reading. That's the whip!

Jamaaliday Festivities on the Whip

Hey Jammers!

So, the past couple of years, I've done something called ''25 Days of Giveaways'', where for every day of December until Christmas, I do a giveaway for one or two items.

Unfortunately, since I am no longer doing daily posts due to personal reasons such as school, extracurricular activities, and overall health/stress management, I don't think I would be able to keep up with ''25 Days of Giveaways'' event.

BUT WAIT!

THERE'S MORE!

That doesn't necessarily mean that I won't be doing something special for y'all. I am planning on hosting an AJW Jamaalidays party within the next few weeks, a giant giveaway with a grand total of 25 prizes (yes, 25 prizes to make up for each day of the ''25 Days of Giveaways'' event, and yes, the prizes will be split up among the Jammers that enter, more info to come on that soon), and possibly another contest which will be decided by you guys through a poll on the side of the blog. That survey is up now, so be sure to vote for which contest you want!

Thanks for reading everybody. That's all of the announcements I have for today. Keep peeking at the blog for more information on the party, giveaway, and contest.

Bye!

Fall Fashion Show 2017 RESULTS!

Hi Jammers! Wow, what a contest this has been! Sure, not as many people entered this time around, but it was still fun nonetheless. Huge round of applause (or should I say, appawse, ahaha) to everyone who participated!

And now, the moment you've all been waiting for...

In second place, we have Rosy Gentlegem! Great job, Rosy! You were eliminated yesterday, but you had a fantastic run!

Our first place winner is Fauna Goldenrose! Congratulations!

Leave your usernames in the comments so I can get your prizes to y'all.

That's the whip!

AJPW Items I Wish Were In Regular AJ

Hi Jammers! I hope you're all having a lovely December day so far.

It's no secret that some of the items you can collect/purchase in Animal Jam: Play Wild! are REALLY cool. The only problem is, most of them aren't available in the regular version of Animal Jam. So, today, I'm going to show a few items in AJPW that I think would be fantastic to have in the actual Animal Jam game.

That's all the time I have for today. There's plenty more items I can think of that would look epic in Animal Jam, but I have to go now. See y'all later!

Hey guys! I must apologize, this post is a little late. I was gone all day yesterday, so I had barely any time to get anything done for the blog.

Anyways, it's time to announce the third place winner of the Fall Fashion Show 2017: Rosy Poshlily!

Rosy, please comment your username so I can get your prizes to you!

Now, for the final round of the fashion show... vote out one person! Whoever gets eliminated will receive the second place items, and the one left standing will be crowned the first place winner!

Good luck!

My Opinion on Spike Sales

Alrighty. I'm sure by now you've read the title of this post. Isn't that why you clicked on it in the first place? ;)

Image result for animal jam spike graphicSo, as you can see, today I will be giving my (brutally) honest opinion on spike sales.

If for some odd reason you don't know what spike sales are, they're essentially what AJHQ does to give us an ''update'' when they have nothing else planned.

Why spikes, though?

Because they're the most popular item in the entire game, and they have been for many, many years. In fact, they're so popular that they're pretty much the basic unit of trading. Nowadays, spikes are absolutely necessary if you're working towards an item of great value, such as a headdress.

I guess people started complaining that they'd never be able to get a spike or something like that, because in October 2015, AJHQ released two new kinds of spikes along with their color variations and sold them in the Diamond Shop. To keep the original spikes and the new spikes' values separated, a shiny, gold tag that said ''RARE'' was added to icon of each original spike.

This gave people (or more specifically, members) who wanted a spike an opportunity to buy one, but the majority of Jammers were displeased because they still didn't own an ORIGINAL spike that was truthfully worth anything.

So AJHQ kept doing more of these spike sales. Spike sale after spike sale after spike sale. In reality, there hasn't been a ton of spike sales, but it feels like there has.

Personally, I think these spike sales are very unnecessary. There are already way too many spikes in the game, and just continuing to add more isn't helping the problem with people wanting the real rare spikes. In fact, it's only worsening the problem. I'd imagine scammers are gaining some benefit off of these sales because they might trick a few naive little kids into thinking the spikes are very rare after the sale is over and take their items that are actually worth something.

They are also extremely obnoxious and annoying, and I know quite a few of you would agree with me. Right? I want good, quality content from Animal Jam. Not dumb spike sales. Spike sales are unwanted and unneeded.

So there you go. That's my rant on spike sales. Let me know in the comments what your thoughts are.

Bye bye!

Fall Fashion Show 2017 Voting Day #3: ONE ELIMINATION

Hey guys! Today is round three of the voting session for the Fall Fashion Show. Vote out one person. Good luck to the remaining contestants!

School Stories

Hey Jammers! Nafaria here.

I'm sure you've all had those days where nothing - and I mean NOTHING - interesting happens at school whatsoever. Most of my days are like that.

Thankfully, I have had a couple of school days that weren't all that boring, and they make for great storytelling. So, today, I thought it would be fun if I shared a few school stories of mine, some of which are pretty embarrassing. With that being said, enjoy!

1. I went to a charter school for most of my elementary years, and at my school, you would have the same teacher for three consecutive years. The grades were split into two different groups: Lower El, which included grades 1-3, and Upper El, grades 4-6.

I was in fifth grade at the time, and my teacher, Ms. Souzzann, had something called Silent Reading Time. It was for a half an hour each day during the afternoon, right after recess. We could read any book we wanted, and we could even grab a pillow or two to be extra comfy.

One day I was dashing as fast as I could to get a pillow (because most people grab them all within the first five seconds that we're back in the classroom), and I guess I had some gas in me from lunch, because as I was running I let out the biggest, loudest fart ever. I quickly tried to get out of the area where I farted so people wouldn't think it was me, but my face was blushing beet red for the entire 30 minutes. In the end, I didn't get my pillow.

2. This next story took place during my fourth grade year, so my teacher was still Mrs. Souzzann. At my charter school, they didn't have a cafeteria. They made us bring our own lunches from home every day, and we would eat them on our own personal placements on our desks in the classroom. We could also heat up our food with a microwave if we wanted to.

Well, one day, I was about to start eating my freshly warmed up Panda Express leftovers from dinner the night before when the fire alarm went off. We didn't get the clear to come back into the building until after our lunch period was over, so I didn't get to eat my Panda Express as early as I had intended to.

Apparently, some little kid, probably a first or second grader, was heating up a corn dog in the microwave out in the hallway, and set the timer for 30:00 instead of three minutes. Yeah, it's probably not a good idea to let children use the microwave unsupervised.

3. When I was in third grade (my teacher being Ms. Nicole), the charter school I went to was in its very first year, so a lot of things were pretty new and small, such as the playground. For about a week or so, some construction workers were putting in some poles for a gate, and the cement where the poles were supposed to go was still wet, so my friend and I carved our initials into the wet cement with a wood chip, and sure enough, the cement hardened, and our intials are still there to this day.

4. I was at a public school for my kindergarten, first, and second grade years. I was in second grade at the time when my baby sister was born, and for some unknown, strange reason, I decided to bring my newborn sibling to school for Show-and-Tell. No, I didn't actually drag her into the classroom with me; my mom came later during the day when it was actually time to do Show-and-Tell. Of course, my sister just sat there, being the chunky lump of chubbiness that she was, and didn't move a muscle. She just looked around like a deer caught in headlights the whole time.

5. Also in second grade, I was on the cover of a newspaper along with my mom, my brother, and my sister. My mom was sitting in an office chair with a telephone up to her ear, my sister was on her lap, my brother tugging on the telephone cord, and I was whispering in her ear. It was a newspaper for moms, if you haven't assumed already, and the main article was about my mom and how she gave up her career to raise a family. It just so happened that my teacher was subscribed to that newspaper, saw me on the front page, brought it to school that day, and showed everyone in my class. I thought I was the coolest kid around, all because a picture of me whispering in my mom's ear was on the front of a newspaper.

6. In sixth grade, I ran for student council, and for my speech I did a rap. It was really, really cringy. My opponent did a parody of the Cup Song, though, and that was pretty cringy as well, but she ended up winning.

7. At my school we had composition notebooks for every subject we studied, no matter how little we actually studied them: math, language, Spanish, history, botany, zoology, and geography. We also had a book for journaling, and we would write a short paragraph or two in them every so often.

I, however, was the odd third grader who used my journaling notebook a lot more than everyone else in the classroom, all because I was writing a big, fat story of mumbo-jumbo that didn't make any sense. I thought it was absolutely hilarious, though, and so did all of my classmates. Sometimes I would even beg my teacher to let me read a chapter out loud to the class, and once or twice, she let me.

One of the scenes I remember being exceptionally funny to young me was something along the lines of this: I was a ramen noodle bowl with eyes and a mouth stuck at a disco party in heaven with Elmo and Megamind. Not knowing I was living, Megamind slurped me up. I squirmed around, hoping I wouldn't fall down his esophagus. I tugged on some ''weird strings'' I had found, which caused Megamind to throw me up. Then I asked him why he had such a large head, and he said it was because he ate a watermelon whole and somehow it went through the wrong tube and got stuck in his skull.

Yeah... I had, erm... quite the imagination...

8. One week during the fall in eighth grade, my family and I took a trip to Disneyland. Naturally, I had a lot of make-up work to do. My idiotic French teacher (who truthfully didn't teach me anything at all) handed me this map of some subways and roads in France, along with a worksheet that corresponded with it. The questions were extremely easy. Most of them were like, ''What color is the subway that starts at Paris and goes to Bordeaux?'' The only problem was that the map was printed out in black and white, so what the heck was I supposed to write down? Dark grey? Medium gray? Light gray? Ugh.

9. Speaking of my French teacher, he was so lazy that one time, he didn't bother preparing a lesson, so he turned on March Madness, put it on the projector, and that's all we did for the entire period. March Madness, my dudes. In French class. At least it was an easy course.

10. Last one for today. In fourth grade, we had to write a research paper on a hominid. I was assigned Ardipithicus. Back then, I thought history was the most boring and worst subject ever, so instead of typing up my research paper, I copied and pasted the entire Wikipedia article on Ardipithicus and handed it in. I didn't have a clue what plagiarizing was yet, though, so you can't really blame me because I didn't know what I was doing was wrong.

Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoyed some of these stories! Feel free to tell me about your embarrassing/funniest school moments in the comments. Bye!

Fall Fashion Show 2017 Voting Day #2: DOUBLE ELIMINATION

Fall Fashion Show 2017 Voting Day #1: ONE ELIMINATION

Today is the first day of the voting session for the fall fashion show! Choose one contestant you would like to eliminate, and state their animal name or describe their animal in the comments below. Good luck to all!

The Creepy Charm Token

Hi Jammers! You've all heard about the new Animal Jam Charm Locket Kit, right? It was advertised in the latest update. If you haven't, well, here's a picture of it:

The kit can be purchased on Amazon for $14.99 (plus shipping and handling), but I'm sure you can find it at places like Walmart and Target as well. There's enough material included to create three different pieces of jewelry.

I think the little animal charms are pretty cute, to be honest. But what's NOT cute is the item that comes with the promo code.

IT'S STARING AT ME! AHHH!!!

Yes, this is what you get when you redeem the promo code that comes with this kit. Get this: unlike the masterpiece token, it doesn't do anything special. See, the masterpiece token is like a coupon to create one masterpiece free of charge, but the charm token just hovers and spins around in your den... with that terrifying face watching your every move... *shudders*

What do you guys think of this new Animal Jam product? I won't be buying it, but if I were a little girl I think I would be ecstatic about it.

Thanks for reading. Happy jamming!

Old Medical Center Music Mystery

Hey Jammers!

About a week or so ago, a Jammer called TheOneAndOnlySomething made a very interesting discovery.

Hidden deep in AJ's servers, they stumbled upon an audio file named ''amb_medical_center.mp3''. Obviously this is the audio file for the Medical Center, but after listening to it, you can tell that this is not the same music you hear in the Medical Center we have now (or, more specifically, Gabby's Animal Hospital). Here is the link to the video so you can listen to it for yourself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqI3mnMd-k4

I assume the music is from the Medical Center that was open during the early days of Animal Jam.

Honestly, the audio sounds kind of creepy in a way. I mean, what kind of doctor's office has noises of  hammers pounding nails and saws cutting wood in the background?

Unless the doctors are murderers, and instead of cutting wood, they're cutting BODIES... spooky...

I apologize if that put a disturbing image into your mind. Anyways, thanks for reading, and be sure to let me know what you think of this weird soundtrack in the comments. Bye!

In honor of this, I will be hosting a party as well as a fashion show! Yippee!

I hope you all can make it! Meanwhile, the fashion show is up on the contest blog right now, so click here for a chance to win some epic prizes!

Once again, thank you so much! Have a great day, everyone!

The ''Best Year'' of Animal Jam

Hey there! Welcome to the Animal Jam Whip.

I'm sure you've all wished that the Animal Jam community, as well as the game itself, could go back to how it was during a certain year, whether it be beta testing or any year up until now at some point. I know I have.

But is there really a year we can say was the best for both the community and the game?

Here's what I think.

As time progresses, what we call the ''best year'' of Animal Jam is going to change along with it. I remember back in 2014 when the majority of the community was saying things like, ''Oh, I wish I could go back to the beta days!'' or even ''Ugh, 2011 and 2012 were SOOO much better!''

Now, on the beta days note - I do agree that the beta days were especially peaceful, but only because there weren't that many players compared to now. Just two years after Animal Jam was officially made public, the player count hit 10 Million. That's a big jump.

Also, there weren't a whole lot of scammers during the beta days because trading didn't exist. Let's face it: as long as there is trading, there will be scammers. Heck, as long as there is gifting, there will be scammers, but the margins will be a lot lower. Basically, anything involving the exchanging of items will cause there to be scammers.

So, the community during beta testing was significantly more tranquil than other years, but Animal Jam as a game was still very young and experimental. There's a reason it's called ''beta testing'', you know. I mean, look at how much has changed since Animal Jam first started. And most of them are good changes that have shaped the way the community is now. It's amazing!

Anyways, back to 2014. As soon as 2015 came along, people were complaining that 2013 was the best year. Then came 2016, and people whined about how 2014 was the best year.

You see, there is an ongoing pattern of what people believe is truly the best year for Animal Jam that is constantly changing as time goes on. As long as Animal Jam exists and continues to grow its audience, there will never really be a ''best year''. For example, since Club Penguin shut down and closed its doors recently, you have the right to pick what you think is the best year for the game because it is no longer advancing.

Thanks for reading today's post. I hope you found it interesting. Leave your thoughts in the comments; I always love hearing what you guys have to say.

Bye!

Mira on a Harry Potter Book!?

Hey Jammers! Naffy here.

I recently discovered something that I find to be quite interesting, and I hope you will, too.

The other day I was scrolling through Pottermore, which is an official Harry Potter website run by J.K. Rowling herself. You can find all sorts of fun articles, quizzes, news, and pretty much anything Harry Potter-related.

One of the latest posts had to do with the illustrated version of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. In the original Harry Potter series, the novel was a classic Hogwarts library book, written by the fictional author and ''magizoologist'' (zoologist for magical creatures) Newt Scamander. It has now been turned into a screenplay, as you may already know if you're a fellow Potterhead like me.

Anyways, the post leaked a couple of different covers for the new version of the book. One cover in particular, however, caught my eye...

No Image

Wait... what!?

That bird looks so familiar...

BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE MIRA!!! DUH!!!

Image result for animal jam mira

The animal on the book cover looks JUST like Mira, but with a sneaky, evil, sinister vibe. I'm not saying Oliva Lomenech Gill, the woman who drew the cover stole from WildWorks, just that the two drawings look awfully similar.

The post described the drawing as Olivia's interpretation of an Occamy, which is a feathered, serpent-like beast. If you've watched the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movie, you'll know what I'm talking about.

The odd thing about Olivia's Occamy is that it has legs. The canon Occamy, I believe, is basically a snake with vibrant plumage.

So, what do you guys think? Coincidence or not? Let me know what you have to say in the comments. I love hearing your thoughts.

Thanks for reading. Bye!

Augumented Reality in AJ Play Wild

Hey Jammers!

Have you heard the news? The ever-growing popular trend of augumented reality (virtual reality) has made it into AJ Play Wild.

If you're not entirely sure what virtual reality is, think of Pokemon Go. You know how you can see the Pokemon on your screen when you're trying to capture it in a Pokeball as if it was in camera mode, so it looks like each Pokemon is actually there, in front of you, in real life? That's basically what augumented reality is. The Wikipedia describes it as follows: ''Augmented reality is a live direct or indirect view of a physical, real-world environment whose elements are "augmented" by computer-generated or extracted real-world sensory input such as sound, video, graphics, haptics or GPS data."

But instead of Pokemon, the Play Wild version lets you record videos and take pictures with your animal avatar. Isn't that neat? :D

Here's a quick video AJHQ made that summarizes what we've just talked about:

Awesome!

Play Wild AR is compatible with these devices and platforms only:

iPhone 6s and 6s Plus
iPhone 7 and 7 Plus
iPhone SE
iPad Pro (9.7, 10.5 or 12.9) – both first-gen and 2nd-gen
iPad (2017)
iPhone 8 and 8 Plus
iPhone X

That's all for today. Thanks for reading, and happy jamming!

A REALLY GREAT Animal Jam Artist: Bingo999

Hi Jammers!

I know, I've done a post similar to this in the past; in fact, I've done multiple posts like this in the past. One of them in particular was something like my favorite Animal Jam artists, and then another was similar to my favorite Animal Jam masterpieces. I can't quite remember them that well, but I'm pretty sure those were the two.

But as I was exploring Jamaa the other day, browsing through people's trade lists, I came across a masterpiece done by Bingo999. It was a picture of the Joker from Suicide Squad. Here it is:

IT LOOKS SO LIFELIKE! HOW IS ONE THIS TALENTED!?

I went to Bingo's den in hopes that I could find more of his/her artwork, and sure enough, I did, and I was AMAZED.

They all look so realistic! Jack Sparrow looks almost identical to his real character, as well as Nick and Judy from Zootopia. My favorite is the Harry Potter one.

I enjoy many Animal Jam artist's work, but Bingo's masterpieces are probably some of my all-time favorites.

Thanks for reading. Happy jamming! Oh, and let me know who your favorite AJ artist is!

Jammer Opinions #3: Alpha Headquarters

Hey Jammers!

Today I thought it would be fun to go to the new Alpha Headquarters and ask whoever is there what they think of it.

Ready? Let's go!

DJ Spiritanimal says it isn't fair, and I can see where he is coming from, considering all of the armor sets are for members only.

This red panda (or should I say peach panda) hates it. She didn't specify why she hates it, but she hates it.

THANK YOU, DANCING CUTELILAC. THANK YOU. I am glad at least one of the Jammers I interviewed realizes that Tavie is missing. Honestly, Tavie doesn't deserve to be an Alpha. She deserves MORE. #respectTavie

I love Wretched Alienspirit's reaction to the previous comment.

And here he is again. Yes, I buddied him.

That is a good question you have there, Prince Artisticclaw. Where is Tavie?

Swift Smartyapple thinks the Alpha Headquarters is ''cool, SO COOL''. I like the positivity.

This Jammer actually explained why they enjoy the museum. They said they liked it because of how much time AJHQ put into it. I'm not sure I entirely agree with this statement, but I do appreciate her giving some insight as to why her opinion is what it is.

Daredevil Glaringfalcon wants the old Jamaa back. Me too, pal. Me too.

''awesome''

''amazing''

I didn't get screenshots, but this one dude was screaming (referring to Peck's armor), ''WHAT ARE YOU, A BUNNY OR A BIRD!? MAKE UP YOUR MIND BRO!'' I thought he was hilarious so I buddied him. LOL!
