The Alpha Headquarters Rant

Hello Jammers!

So, as most of you may already know, Animal Jam updated yesterday. In my opinion, it wasn't too bad. I mean, we did get a new animal (which is ADORABLE by the way), and the return of the Feast of Thanks festivities, such as Twists and Turns and pet turkeys.

But there's one little problem, and many Jammers are rather upset about it.

Remember how Club Geoz mysteriously ''fell'' a few weeks ago?

Everyone thought they were going to take Club Geoz away from us, but... how could they? How could they remove one of Jamaa's best hang-out spots like that after so many years of fun?

Well, as it turns out, they did. Yes, they actually got rid of Club Geoz...

... and they replaced it with this.

This, my friends, is the Alpha Headquarters. It's basically a museum that honors the six Alphas, as well as a bunch of important ancient relics that have been discovered during their... I mean, our adventures.

''Wait a minute, Naffy! Did you just say six Alphas!? I thought there were seven!''

You're right, there are seven Alphas. For some reason, the museum doesn't honor Tavie, the dolphin Alpha, who protects and watches over the oceans.

Poor, poor Tavie. She's been robbed too many times. If I were her, I would just resign.

Anyway, in all seriousness, the place is actually pretty neat. I like the music and the overall design of the building. There's also some cool armor sets for each of the Alphas (except Tavie, of course) for sale on the second floor, but they're all for members only, and they cost diamonds, too, similar to the other armor sets sold in the Diamond Shop.

While the Alpha Headquarters isn't all that awful, it still bugs the crap out of me that it replaced Club Geoz.

WHAT WERE YOU THINKING, AJHQ!?

Also, can we not set aside the fact that a PRODUCT based off of Club Geoz, which, as of now, no longer exists, is still available for purchase!?

Ugh. It's gonna take me a while to get over this.

That's all of the ranting I feel like doing for today. What do you guys think? Do you like how the historical and adventurous side of the game is being incorporated into Animal Jam more, or do you think it's getting a bit out of hand? I'm on both sides.

Thanks for reading. Be sure to leave your opinion in the comments!

Bye!

  1. UGH, THIS MAKES ME MAD TOO. >:(

*mini rant, sorry about all the caps*

COULDN'T AJHQ JUST MAKE ANOTHER LAND FOR THIS ALPHA PALACE?! DID WE REALLY NEED TO RUIN JAMAA TOWNSHIP'S OLD, RUSTIC FEELING BY MAKING A GIANT SHINEY ALMOST-GOOD-FOR-NOTHING CASTLE?! WOULDN'T ANOTHER LAND WITH THIS BUILDING IN IT MAKE EVERYONE HAPPY? AND WHY IS THE ARMOR FOR DIAMONDS? IS IT DIAMOND SHOP 2? WHY IS EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF ARMOR FOR MEMBERS?!

    *screams*

Gah. Okay. I'm done. XD Sorry bout that!

  3. Prepare yourself for a long comment..

First of all, I HATE the armour sets. I was really excited for them, but I feel like the don't express the personalities of the Alphas AT ALL. I'm absolutely FURIOUS that they took away Club Geoz, one of my favorite places in the game. I'm also mad that "Alpha Headquarters" (If it REALLY was their headquarters, wouldn't some of them BE there?!) blocks off that lovely little river/forest area we used to have access to. The ONLY part I like? The top room with all the artifacts. A history museum is something I've wanted in AJ for a LONG time, and though I'm disapointed with the amount of artifacts, at least it's something. Over all, "Alpha Headquarters" gets a 1/10.

(On a much happier note, THE RED PANDAS ARE FRIGGIN' ADORABLE!!!)

    1. Yeah, I can see where you are coming from. The armor sets aren't really that Alpha-y at all.

  4. Another thing that bugs me: The FULL Armour sets cost 18 diamonds each! Which means yesterday i spent.... OVER 108 DIAMONDS

    Great.
And halloween JUST finished. And then a Winter themed den comes out!

There goes 7 diamonds, I don't own this den.

    1. I used to have about 200 diamonds, and now I have half the amount. Sure, I had plenty to begin with, and I have plenty now, but gee, if you want to collect every piece of every set, that's a lot of work!

    2. I had 210 diamonds, I now have 83.

      Do. Not. Ask.

    1. I don't think they're discontinuing the product anytime soon; it's just a bit weird that the thing they're selling doesn't exist in the game anymore.

  6. I'm honestly not sad at all that Club Geoz is gone, I really never went there anyways, And you can still see the inside of Club Geoz by going to the parties, Sure it was a old building, But I never saw anyone go there anyways, All I see is drama now. And who knows, Animal Jam may make a new land and create Club Geoz again! It actually sounds pretty possible. I really like the new building anyways, It's soo cool! So I'm good with the change on this and makes me more excited for the next updates for hopes of a new Club Geoz! :D

  7. WHAT THE FRICKETY FRACK AJHQ? Like, I was sad when Club Geoz went away, and when I saw the new advertisement and all I said "Cool. Nice. Ooh, armor sets!" And then I rushed to the building. But lo and behold, the armor sets were MEMBERS ONLY!!! Why tho? Why? They could've made at least one item (like the tail armor or amulet) in each of the sets non-member! Ugh.

  10. I know right!! Couldn't they have just added the alpha headquarters to a different spot in Jamaa? Or not just added it at all? LIke it is cool in all I agree and I do like it but. I am pretty sure most people have been wanting a new land and not to have club geoz removed!! Like that new land could have fixed all the problems:/

  11. You can always revisit Club Geoz in the parties, though, but it wouldn't be the same. It still wouldn't be THE Club Geoz.

    2. Even if they made another Club Geoz, it wouldnt be the same.

  12. Also note the poor Statue Alphas. They have so much potential, a leader and guardian for every species, but they kinda got booted off to the side.

I like it, but I wish AJ would keep the ANIMAL part of it. The whole point of animal jam is to be Fun, Educational and Animal Jam. The Animal appears to have gone missing. Every new thing is flashy and colorful. I cannot remember the last time a nice, rustic, animal den was released. The last non-flashy Diamond Shop animal released was the deer, which was at least 40 years ago. Sigh.

Also all the Alpha Armor except maybe Pecks feels suspiciously based off of previous Diamond Shop armor. Also none of the armor sets do the alphas justice, especially Greely's. They feel, again, too flashy.

I like the museum aspect of it, I'd like it if more was devoted to museum-type things. Perhaps scrolls and books with past battles, a Guide to Phantom Machinery and Development, sky's the limit.

They should develop some more underwater Statue Alphas and make a separate Underwater Museum. It would make sense, and underwater needs some development.

    1. At that one part, I meant an animal that is neither flashy or diamond. I think I worded that poorly.

  13. his update only affirms my fear of the direction WildWorks is brining their game. Animal Jam, when it started, had a very unique, special, vibe to it. The flat colors, the general shapes and textures, and overall art style were all oh-so unique. In end of 2011-2012, a big difference emerged. Bigger, flashier, items started appearing. The Red Sports Car, Diamond Phantom Statue, Spaceship Command Center, and similar items were released. I originally would say these were the beginning of the vibe the game gave off started to diminish, (and also when I joined the game) but being as objective as possible, it's clear to me these are not the original artist vision of AJ, and only my nostalgia for them clouds my opinion on them into thinking they were still Classic AJ. Moving forward, the vibe these flashy items continued and became more prevalent. The art style changed dramatically to a much more cartoony one, and the color palettes changed to being brighter, and the shapes and textures became more flat. The game started going downhill. AJHQ was previously an entity who was thought of as an almost all-seeing always looming presence. People made false claims of being moderators. Nobody talked with AJHQ, and AJHQ talked with no one. Then, they got involved with the community. Now, at this point, toys were all ready in production, of course. Toys is where AJ truly departed from their original vision of educating kids about conservation, and drifts towards one goal: money. Things became brighter, and flashier. AJHQ was very, VERY involved with the community. At the same time, it seemed like a lot of the older community left, and a much bigger crowd of young players came in. AJHQ has started down a road it can't stop on- doing what the community asks them to. It started with contests giving out Spiked Collars. SPECIFICALLY Spiked Collars. Specifically BLACK Spiked Collars. Then came Skullies. A myth among Jammers for years. They rereleased skullies, because it was what the community wanted. But, not exactly. Much different colors. Since when I even joined, people made edits of "Rainbow Spikes" and "Golden Spikes", AJHQ released them, as any kid might dream of. The ULTIMATE SPIKE! Rainbow Spikes Collars. We've done from the rustic game of Shamans protecting animals, to animals roaming around wearing RAINBOW SPIKED COLLARS. Then, the community asked for lore. And so, they delivered. Or tried. The Lost Archive, taken DIRECTLY FROM FAN THEORIES. Then, this. This is, the ultimate embodiment, of what's happening to the game. They tore down, quite literally, a classic area with the original color palette and shapes, and textures, and replaced it with THIS. What the fans requested. Games giving communities what they want is good. But in Animal Jam, so much has to be appropriated to the audience, even that which they think up. Anything the community asks for, and Animal Jam tries to deliver, is censored heavily. This is an example. Look, on the in game map. This building. Random obnoxiously bright colored squares, just put together on top of each other is what it looks like to me. Looks like a McDonalds jungle gym. Looks like a Paw Patrol play set, or some crap. Animal Jam has really gone too far with this. They want to give us what we request, but they just can't do it right, and it's bringing the game to its knees.

But seriously, not only the game itself is rolling downhill but the community as well.

  14. Okay, so its not too bad until you think about it..

The Alphas are VERY selfish, they don't rebuild Club Geoz-instead they make this shrine for themseleves out of precious jewels and stones!
    Also.
    I think the Alphas mean
the Jammers adventures because all Alphas are lazy (Except Graham, and maybe Cosmo, BUT COSMO TALKS TO PLANTS)
Pecks armor somewhat resembles princess armor, not too much I guess
    Greely's resembles wind armor.
Sir Gilberts is CLEARLY the phoenix armor, Liza's is clearly mystical armor Graham's is.. idk
    Cosmo's is lucky armor!
    Also let me just say
    Cosmo is a loony
I don't like how non members are complaining sooo much, its literally the Feast of Thanks, and they have gotten soooooooooo much lately!
    Okay this comment stops

  15. Opens Computer,Opens Animal Jam sees the update..."Oooo A headquarters cool!"
Keeps reading and then...See it replaces Club geoz!
    Screams!
    "What the animal jammity jam?"
And then sighs and thinks "it can't be that bad"
    Goes to headquarters
    Sees the armours...
    Gets excited...
    It's Diamonds and members only!
    Screams louder
And then invites buddies and celebrates the farewell to Club geoz..

  17. No one hung out is club geoz, honestly! It wass always empty when I went in it, rarely there'd be a couple people. And there are way more than 7 alphas.
